Lighting Setups You Should Try Pt.2

All I mean by “realistic lighting” is that there’s a difference between lighting a product in an abstract type of scene (i.e. plain background, random shapes, gradient backgrounds) vs. lighting a product that is contained within a specific context/identifiable location (i.e. loading dock, somewhere near a walkway at a beach, on some artificial turf). This video will be concerned with the latter...

    Hi! I recently stumbled upon your channel while searching for tips on jewelry photography lighting. Normally, I check out the subscriber count and views before watching, but this time I just hit play after browsing numerous videos. I have to say, your channel is a hidden gem! The quality and content are exceptional, and everything is so well explained and illustrated. Thank you for your hard work-this is exactly the kind of content I enjoy. Keep it up! I believe you're just a few videos away from gaining the recognition you deserve.

    This is a useful topic, thanks for the video. There's still something I don't understand though: when using a slow shutter speed, and a flash, why aren't we seeing trails for the falling fruit? I understand the point that the flash is much faster, say 1/10000th, and that "freezes" the action for the duration the flash is firing BUT the flash is only firing for a small amount of the overall shutter-open time (because we have a show shutter speed), and I'd think that the "rules" for ambient light would apply -- ie we'd see a blur because the shutter speed is so slow. What am I missing?

    I love this, thanks for sharing. How did you create that super fast zoom in to the bowl as you were stirring at 20 seconds? I have seen that kind of transition done on the luxury real estate series on netflix when they enter a room and then zoom in super fast with that swish sound its awesome. I am using filmora 13 do you know how I would create this in there? Also where do you get your music for these from?

    Grandpap would put his tools in a BIN and on the FLOOR and nobody ever heard no complaints about it. This stupid as hell dont do this

    • @DiersakZelesnik
      @DiersakZelesnik 14 днів тому

      French cleats are pretty common. I hardly would call storing things stupid as hall. I personally thing that a chest seems like a better solution because it can easily be moved but I can see the benefit of having your tools immediately available on a wall.

    • @AsuraTheNoble
      @AsuraTheNoble 14 днів тому

      I mean this is a very common solution in workshops where the tools only move when you need them. and most the time its done in order to save some money because building your own storage will almost always be cheaper then buying somthing. also id say a majority of people would rather have an organized shelf then a cluttered floor

    • @mikehunt23428
      @mikehunt23428 14 днів тому

      @@AsuraTheNoble you dont know anything about storage. My grandpap owned THREE STORAGE SHEDS and filled them full of tools from one wall to the other. Build these and you are only wasting time doing NOTHING.

    • @AsuraTheNoble
      @AsuraTheNoble 14 днів тому

      @@mikehunt23428 sure thing bud. I'll just go out and spend $10k+ on three storage sheds. Oh and another 10k+ on the concrete foundations for them. And I'll throw away my $150 French cleats

    Can you please explain what you change when you mention the colour contrast? Thanks in advance ;-)

    • @figandlight
      @figandlight 20 днів тому

      Sure! In the video I changed the color temperature of the light from 5600K to 3200K while also changing the background lighting to 8000K. But obviously in photography, that's not always possible. To get the same effect, what I'd do is change my White Balance on my camera from 5600K to 3200K and then either change the color temp of the Key light from Daylight to Tungsten or add a full CTO (color temperature orange) gel in front of it. That should achieve essentially the same effect I demo'd in this video.
